ASK Bilingual Camp is an inclusive program, dedicated to offering a special haven for children and teenagers aged 3-17 who have Learning Differences and Special Educational Needs. The fully integrated program allows individuals to develop their social skills, creativity and learning through fun games and activities, which are structured according to age and their skill level. Our highly qualified staff include psychologists, experienced specialist teachers in drama/theatre, counselors, speech therapists, ABA therapists, art therapist, music therapist and sport coaches.

Making and playing with friends are two things that children do naturally and are skills that we ordinarily take for granted. Yet for many children with special needs and related learning differences, these two aspects of childhood do not come easily. The effects of specific learning differences may, in fact, preclude children from interacting appropriately with their peers. They are challenged to acquire the “unspoken” rules of social behavior and poor self-esteem, low frustration tolerance and problems with anger and/or aggression are a constant source of concern for parents and teachers.

sensory play to enhances learning through hands-on activities that stimulate the child’s senses

multi-sensory games which encourage team building, group interaction and learn conflict resolution
weekly outings to explore nature and local culture

This program teaches children the fundamental social communication skills, using social stories and role play to learn sharing, cooperation, conflict resolution through team building exercises.

Improving social communication skills will lead to children learning to understand each other’s differences and to learn self-acceptance, which in turn instill empathy in each child and build life-long self-confidence.
The nurturing camp environment encourages the children to have positive peer interactions, which develops self-discovery and a sense of social accomplishment.
Multi-sensory tools and different art mediums are used to allow children to unleash their creativity and self-expression to discover a sense of self and to further develop their self-confidence.

J’ai eu énormément de plaisir à recevoir Elias au Museum d’histoire naturelle de Genève, durant quelques semaine. Son enthousiasme et son intérêt à découvrir le métier de la surveillance et de la sécurité m’ont donné beaucoup de joie. Toute l’équipe de la sécurité garde un bon souvenir d’Elias. L’équipe d’encadrement ainsi que le coach étaient super et bien veillant, nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir à partager cette expérience avec eux.

It was very helpful to have so much positive feedback on the idea of James going into a special school as I was not sure that it was the best thing for him, but it looks like it is a very good option. It’s important to have a group where you can say almost anything and not feel judged or criticised to get the feedback, support and ideas from others and be able to off load a bit of the pressure !

Leo’s experience was very positive. He asked us if he could return to the same camp every year because he really enjoyed it. I imagine that with the experience ASK has in welcoming children with neuroatypical profiles he feels understood and supported. I believe that it is very positive they way the neuroatypical and neurotypical children are integrated and share the experience of being different in the ASK camps. It is an invaluable learning experience for Leo that helps him understand and accept the differences which in turn will contribute to develop empathy and tolerance.
For us, as parents, you can never imagine the extent to which having ASK summer camps has changed our life.

ASK summer camp has been a lifesaver for my family. Indeed, for the first time in nine years, my daughter Victoria felt totally accepted, that she could be herself and would not be expelled if she misbehaved. She was not the trouble maker anymore. At camp, she learned to control her emotions better and to make friends from various backgrounds and special needs. After three weeks of camp, she asked to come back next year. When I asked her what she liked most about camp, she said: “everything!”. As a mother, it was the first time in nine years as well that I did not have to listen to a 20-minute debriefing on my daughter’s behavior every evening when I came to pick her up or received a phone call during the day asking me to come and get her because she had misbehaved. Her special needs were acknowledged, accepted, and the camp coordinator and volunteers worked with her on getting better and celebrated her strengths and talents. Thank you ASK, from the bottom of my heart!

Our first summer camp experience was fantastic! I felt totally reassured as of the first day; the staff and the volunteers were great, and they did everything to have a smooth first camp experience for our 5 years old daughter, and her 7 years old brother (who literally requested us to drive them to the camp every day, even on the weekend 🙂
They kept very nice memories of the Friendship Group, the art activities, and of course, I should not forget to mention the highlights of the week; the swimming pool and the bowling!
ASK also helped us, parents of two children with autistic spectrum disorder, to slow down for a few days, knowing that our kids are taken care of by a great team! We are extremely grateful! Thank you to the whole ASK-team!

We have found the summer program at ASK very accommodating for children with many varied needs and skills. Most impressively, ASK Camp is able to get all these children to somehow work and play collectively. In a world in which inclusiveness is still a big challenge, we find this approach by ASK not only extremely progressive but also quite unique in Geneva. ASK camp is even able to get Ryan to forget about his favorite iPad for the entire day and get him focused on a structured program from morning to the end!

Pratical Information

Tell me about the staff

Teacher to student ratios are high and we aim to support children on 1:1 ratios if needed. Our highly qualified staff include psychologists, ABA therapists, social worker, experienced specialist teachers in drama/theatre, speech therapist, occupation therapist, music therapist, art teacher, and sport coaches.

What is included in the price?

Lunch and 2 snacks are included in the full day camp fees. Also includes access to community trips e.g., pool

What are the Camp hours?

ASK Summer Camps run from 9h to 16h45, Monday through Friday for Full Day camp and 9h to 12h30 for Half Day camp.
Drop off is possible everyday between 9h-9h30. Pick up time is from 16h30-16h45 for Full Day Camp and 12h15-12h30 for Half Day Camp.
We understand that arriving at the designated pick up time is not always easy, especially with all the major roadworks and traffic in the area, and we would prefer that you are too early than too late.

If your child has any food allergies, we suggest that you provide own food.
